Broadcasting is an important tool for mass communication. "Radio" and "Television" are the two main segments of Broadcast Media. These segments have been the prime growth divers of Entertainment and Media sector which has experienced exponential growth over the last decade. Media production formats and dissemination technologies are evolving rapidly. Today broadcast content is consumed on variety of devices from handheld devices to home theatres.
Digitalization of broadcasting and convergence of media have opened new challenges to seek better connect with the masses for improving media reach while optimizing the resources. In such scenario there is an urgent need to develop skilled and trained manpower that could help harness these developments for content creation and dissemination over diverse delivery platforms and ensure efficient operation, management and utilization of the technical infrastructure and resources in digital - converged era. The course aims to address the above challenge.

Eligibility :
Bachelors' degree, with 50% or more marks in aggregate, in engineering (Electronics/Tele-communication/ Electrical/ Computer Science/ IT) or Science (Physics/ Electronics)
Admission Procedure :
Admission to the course is done on the basis of a written test and interview held at Delhi during the months of April - May. Applicants qualifying in the written test are called for the interview. The admission notice and entrance test dates etc. are notified on the website of the Centre and the University. The distribution of marks for the admission test is as follows:
Written Test : 170
The written test shall be designed to assess basic knowledge and aptitude of the candidate in the field of physics, electronics, communication, computers, networking, along with issues of general awareness related to media and broadcasting. The written test will consist of 75 multiple choice questions each carrying two marks and descriptive questions carrying twenty marks.
Interview :
Interview will be for 30 marks. The focus in interview will be on assessing basic knowledge of the applicant in area of his graduate study and on exploring his interests, aptitude, strengths etc. for assessing his/ her suitability for the course.
Introduction to Course :
The course focuses on teaching production basics, technical concepts and operational skills related to technical systems, equipments and technologies employed for content acquisition, production and transmission in radio and television broadcasting. The students will be given extensive hands on experience in real working environment through practical exercises at in-house studio facilities, visits to external facilities and internship to develop good understanding of Radio and Television broadcast workflow and operational and maintenance aspects related to broadcasting facilities. They are expected to assume responsibilities as technical experts in various domains of broadcast media industry with Radio and Television production houses, broadcasters, network operators, system integrators, marketing and media institutions.
Structure of the Course :
The course teaches working principles and operational aspects of various technical systems employed in content acquisition, production and transmission in Radio and Television. The students are also taught latest developments and practices in broadcasting to keep them abreast with industry trends. The course is equal mix of theoretical teaching and hands-on training given in real working environment. Visits to broadcasting stations and industry internship are part of the curriculum. After completion of the course, students find immediate employment in different sectors of the media industry.

Each paper will have Total Marks: 100 (Written Exam: 75, Viva: 15, Internal Assessment: 10). The project is of 200 marks including 60 marks for viva. In order to pass the final exams the students will have to secure a minimum of 40% marks.
Note : To be eligible to appear in the final exams students will be required to attend a minimum of 75% of all the classes and practical. Any student not fulfilling this condition will not be allowed to appear in the final examination and will be subject to the existing rules and regulations of AJK MCRC.
