M. Kasim joined AJK, MCRC as Professor Media Technology. He is a former official of Indian Broadcasting Engineers Service, IB(E)S 1989 Batch. He has over twenty years of experience in planning, installation, operation & maintenance, training and research areas related to broadcast media technologies.

He started his career in 1988 as Design Engineer with NTPC Ltd. and subsequently joined Doordarshan in 1991 where he held several postings. During his career with Doordarshan he has been responsible for setting up of a number of Television Studio and Transmitter facilities and for their operation & maintenance activities. He has also been a resource person for the AIR & Doordarshan Staff Training Institute.

Mr Kasim has worked for a year as a visiting researcher at Science & Technical Research Laboratories, NHK under ABU-NHK Broadcast Engineering Research Fellowship 2005 and has also attended ABU Broadcast Engineers Training at Central Training Institute, NHK, Tokyo, in 2002.

Before joining MCRC, he was involved in introduction of new media technologies in Doordarshan network. He was a key member of the team that prepared digital migration plan for Doordarshan and implemented the mobile television pilot project for introducing “DD Mobile TV Service” in Delhi. He was involved in the planning of Doordarshan HDTV service for coverage of Commonwealth Games 2010 and in development of broadcast media infrastructure and services specifically targeting border and remote areas of the country.

Mr. Kasim is a Life Member of Broadcast Engineering Society (India). He holds Bachelors (Hons.) Degree in Engineering from AMU and Masters Degree in Technology from IIT Kanpur. His interests are Mobile TV Technologies, Educational Technologies and use of diverse media delivery platforms for Mass Communication.
